Responsibilities include activities related to secured, unsecured and credit card lending, and home equity loans. The Supervisor will assist with projects, product development and work collaboratively with colleagues, including the Information Technology team on loan systems, enhancements, and process improvements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:As a leader in the lending area, possesses and applies relevant knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization’s goals; promotes the delivery of excellent and prompt high quality service to deliver the

member experience

in order to build strong member (internal/external) relationships and deliver member-centric solutions.Makes good and timely decisions

using sound rationale, available data, and relevant or important factors, regularly reviews loan applications explaining the different financing options, programs available, features and benefits. Obtains credit reports and other verifications as necessary; analyzes credit risks, makes exceptions to lending policy within their lending authority, prepares necessary documents, and approves loans. The team authorizes loans, disburses loans, maintains loan records and ensures compliance with loan policies, procedures and regulations.Schedules and supervises the daily activities of the underwriters and home equity processor or funding teams.

by knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on identifying process improvement opportunities; works with all stakeholders to test and implement. Assists with developing, testing and implementing new loan products, loan systems, forms and procedures.Ensures accountability

by holding self and others accountable to meet commitments, ensuring a high level of excellence in a professional, efficient and courteous manner, and taking responsibility for outcomes. Assists Credit Director with preparation of performance appraisals, and in taking corrective action as necessary when departmental/branch objectives are not being attained.Drives results

by monitoring the performance of team members, overseeing the daily loan production for consumer loans and loan origination systems for timely loan decisions and meeting production goals and work queues. Works with team to ensure that goals are met/exceeded by monitoring decision quality of Underwriters and funding ratios are met/exceeded on approved loans.Works

with all levels of team members to build partnerships and meet shared objectives. Assists with meeting loan regulations/compliance deadlines by working with all Stakeholders, i.e. Consumer Operations, Mortgages, Repayments, Compliance and IT.Builds effective teams

that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals. Assists and develops team members as needed with loan problem resolution, workout loans and extensions. Reinforces team member’s efforts for correctly identifying areas of financial strength.Communicates effectively

by developing and delivering various forms of communication (written, verbal, presentation), that are in alignment with the Credit Union’s philosophy, mission and values, facilitating discussions and actively listening to convey a clear understanding of the needs of team members, regarding expectations, procedure updates, new products and initiatives of the Credit Union. Effectively listens for cues and determines members’ needs; courteously resolves member problems by suggesting alternative products and services when applicable. Ensures timely callbacks to all business partners and members.Ensures timely problem resolution of open IS Work Orders, open Symitar cases, etc.Assists in developing the annual budget and monthly budget variance reporting.Drives engagement by influencing others and by creating a healthy climate where team members are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.Instills trust

Applies feedback to personal development using both formal and informal development channels.Essential Preparation, Training, and Experience:Associate degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience; and3 years of related, progressively more responsible underwriting experience, preferably within a financial institution to gain the necessary background to manage lending and member services and interact effectively with team members and members.Minimum high school diploma or GED required.Supervisory experience preferred.Preference will be given to candidates with direct or indirect lending experience.Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Experience with and a focus on delivering a rich and awesome member and team member experience, implementing best practices to drive satisfaction and engagement.Excellent organizational, time, and resource management skills that enable and support collaboration with fellow leaders and peer groups.Strong coaching, mentoring and overall leadership, management and development of team members using positive management techniques to ensure maximum effectiveness while overseeing primary area of responsibility.Demonstrated aptitude for understanding and applying credit union policies and procedures.Proficient with technology including, lending systems, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Thorough knowledge of lending and collections policies and procedures to coordinate the daily functions of the consumer lending and responsive to team member and member questions.Complete familiarity with the credit union's savings, checking, and lending policies and guidelines, as well as specific loan programs, qualifications, insurance, etc.Above average interpersonal skills necessary to resolve team member, member and dealer concerns, and to promote and cross sell savings and loan products and services to members.High level of critical thinking skills, reasoning, mathematical, and learning ability and attention to detail.Working Conditions:Office and branch location environment with little discomfort from noise, extreme temperature, dust, or other factors.Occasionally required to travel throughout the MSGCU's service area as business needs require.Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.This work involves sitting most of the time with brief periods of walking or standing and may occasionally require lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.Compensation and Benefits:Competitive salaries are just the starting point for MSGCU team members.
