Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a
Senior Staff Engineer Systems Architect
with outstanding leadership skills and hands-on experience in the development of sensors. The deputy Systems Architect will utilize their background in radar technologies to help develop architectures for future multi-function sensors and upgrades to current systems.
What You'll Get To Do:
Ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, capability simulations, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware, software, firmware, and integration and test specifications.
Interfacing with multiple disciplines, including customers, internal executive management, program management, hardware, software, system engineering, procurement, suppliers, and manufacturing.
Lead and report progress for requirements documentation, technical risk management, key system performance parameters, and lessons learned.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have an excellent track record as an effective communicator and problem solver, able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will have the ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the business areas as required to accomplish team goals.
*This position requires up to
100% on-site
work due to security constraints and an ability to pass an enhanced security review.
Role and Responsibilities
Support the Systems Architect with program-specific responsibilities, including design and development of sensor system architectures and definition of key capabilities and performance requirements.
Create, evolve, and maintain the System Architecture that supports customer requirements, cost, and development schedule.
Develop thorough definition of system interfaces.
Define the system implementation approach and operational concept.
Perform system performance modeling.
Lead technical work products developed by the engineering team, supporting design reviews and integration and test activities as needed.
Support capture activities, including RFI/RFP preparation, customer presentations, and competitor analysis.
Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies and strategies for their insertion into both legacy and next-generation sensors.
Provide presentations to customers and senior management, with tailored material based on the audience.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 14 years of experience in systems and product development; OR Master's of Science degree in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 12 years of experience; OR PhD in a STEM discipline with 9 years of experience.
Must have a current/active Secret Clearance and be able to obtain approval of Special Program Access prior to start.
Willingness to work on-site full-time in a program area.
Experience with RF Systems Engineering, Radar Design/Development, Relevant Algorithm development, and Previous MATLAB experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Special Access Program (SAP) Current.
Leadership experience with development and/or production program execution.
Experience leading technical teams.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP) experience.
High proficiency in technical problem solving, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, and implementation.
Multi-disciplined knowledge in areas related to engineering including systems design, hardware, software, and firmware design, integration, and test.
RF or EW technology background with sensors development and implementation experience.
*This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access prior to starting and contract award.
Salary Range:
$174,800 - $262,200
