THE ROLE:At AMD, we focus on high-performance computing and ensure significant generation-to-generation performance improvements. On this team, we build on our depth in microarchitecture knowledge and simulation to analyze and optimize high-performance System-on-a-Chip (SoC) designs for critical areas such as cloud computing and machine intelligence acceleration.Candidates seeking the most sophisticated and exciting challenges in the computing industry are encouraged to apply. Join us!THE PERSON:An outstanding technical contributor and a passionate and dedicated Server Systems Performance Architect who can help us develop next-generation server simulators and use them to analyze complex workloads. A staff-level or aspiring member of technical staff who can quickly determine, using data, how the next-generation server platforms and high-performance CPUs and GPUs should be engineered to accelerate the adoption of our EPYC processors across cloud, enterprise, and HPC customers.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Impact microarchitecture exploration, performance modeling, and analysis for SoC designs that include next-generation CPU cores, GPUs, memory technologies, scalable interconnects, and quality-of-service.Advance performance simulation methodologies for next-generation server CPU and GPU exploration and projection.Communicate, propose, and implement solutions to processor and system performance issues using an in-depth design architecture and micro-architecture understanding.Collaborate in micro-benchmarking, workload characterization, competitive analysis, bottleneck identification, and optimization.Develop tools and methodologies for performance analysis of server and deep learning workloads.Work well with multiple teams across multiple sites.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience with multi-core systems and multi-thread interactionsExperience with CPU, GPU, or computer system microarchitecture (ideally familiarity with all three)Experience with the development and usage of computer system performance modelsExperience with computer workload analysisStrong Background in Deep Learning WorkloadsStrong programming skills, including experience with C++ and Python (or similar)Proficiency in principles and methods of microarchitecture, software, and hardware relevant to performance engineeringExperience in IO subsystem Uarch performance modeling and strong background in PCI-E/CXL Uarch and ProtocolsACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field preferredMaster’s or Ph.D. with an emphasis on Computer Architecture and Performance Analysis of Deep Learning and Machine Learning Workloads strongly preferred.LOCATION: Austin, Tx#LI-MR1#LI-Hybrid#LI-Serverperformance#LI-Performancemodeling
At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position. You may be eligible for incentives based upon your role such as either an annual bonus or sales incentive.
