is currently seeking a
Traction Power Engineer
with specialized skills in Rail and Transit Systems, to join our multidisciplinary West Coast Systems Engineering team and work on delivering an existing and future portfolio of projects.
JOB INFORMATION:
While the position is primarily for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, AECOM has an impressive backlog of significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area and transit/rail projects across West Region and provides exceptional opportunity for professional growth. This position is based out of our Oakland office location and allows for a hybrid working scenario including for in-office collaboration sessions as well as remote work.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid to large-size projects.Assist in maintaining technical client relationships.Manage day to day action items for various deliverables including meeting minutes.Manage technical requirements from start to finish using IBM Doors or other requirements management software.Generate design reports for all phases of system design. Author test procedures and reports in support of design verification and validation during the project life cycle.Produce conceptual design, prelim design, final design, Issued for Construction drawing and document packages.Support and participate in the Systems implementation phase of projects, such as installation, Testing & Commissioning, Cutover, Record Drawings and final reports.Support procurement efforts by authoring technical requirements and specifications, performing vendor bid evaluations and supporting vendor selection.Work under general guidance of Senior Engineers and Leads discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.Run Simulations such as Load Flow Analysis, Power Flow, Voltage drop, Harmonic, Arc Flash using software and develop reports.Perform grounding calculations and or simulations, develop reports for contractors and clients.Develop systemwide ductbank drawings by working in close coordination with respective system disciplines. Assist and provide working information to CAD for BIM clash detection.Support the management of System Interfaces and creation of Interface Control Documents (ICDs).Assist technical business development work.Provides specialized technical input to simulation studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.Develop professional reports, whitepapers, memos, manuals.Work with interdisciplinary team of engineers assisting reviews, closing comments by updating drawings.Short term goal of becoming a Leader in one or more areas of Traction power technology.Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large, complex projects.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:2+ years of experience in railway traction power.EIT is preferred, but not required.Experience with railway electrification (DC and AC), specifically design, construction, test & commissioning, and maintenance of electrical substations.Experienced in the development of technical specifications of electrical substation equipment.Proficient in AutoCAD/other CAD software.
