Session Facilitator – Brooklyn Playcentre

We’re seeking a vibrant and motivated educator to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents, and whānau in facilitating child-led play.
You will work alongside our Centre whānau to open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modelling child-led play and positive guidance, increase use of Te Reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau.

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents, whānau, members, and tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Location:Brooklyn Playcentre
Days & hours:Tuesday 8.45am to 12.45pm. This is a Fixed-term role ending 24 June 2025.
We will be reviewing applications upon receipt and the ideal candidate may be appointed before the closing date.
The candidate must have the following:
Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification
or
higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher
Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.
Desirable skills and experience will include:
Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults
Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging in our sessions.
Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
