Position Overview
The Missile Defense Solutions organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our team is chartered with providing the skills, innovative technologies to develop, design, produce and sustain optimized product lines across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter.
Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated Engineer to join our team that possesses system administration, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary for quickly developing recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative data from many different types of sources.
Essential Functions
Linux system administration, System Security Implementations, Linux shell scripting, Ansible playbook development and management, security enhanced (SE) Linux, and Red Hat repository administration.
Must have a working knowledge of Agile principles and practices.
Ensure all data is being backed up regularly.
Ensure the backup system is functioning correctly and periodically test the backup system by restoring files.
Respond appropriately to any system security/virus incident discovered.
Install, configure, monitor, manage, and maintain all Linux-based servers.
Create and maintain Linux server documentation.
Create and maintain Linux system administration processes and procedures.
Install, configure, manage, and maintain Linux server-based applications.
Ensure Linux-based systems have the appropriate patches installed, including but not limited to security, applications, and OS.
Ensure Linux-based systems are running current versions of antivirus software with current virus definition files.
Create, manage, and maintain security groups.
Create, manage, and maintain user accounts.
Monitor, manage, and maintain storage systems and devices.
Create and maintain Windows/Linux server images.
Recommend system enhancements, including but not limited to servers, applications, storage, processes, and procedures.
Ensure all appropriate asset management functions are completed as required.
Ensure all Linux servers are configured to comply with all appropriate security policies.
All other tasks the IT site lead or IT manager assigns.
Create, deploy, and maintain Linux desktop, notebook images, and notebook distribution packages for software applications.
Ensure Linux desktop and notebook computers are configured to comply with all appropriate security policies.
Assist the help desk in responding to end users' requests/issues.
Knowledge of applying containers (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
Basic Qualifications
An active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required to start
Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of IT experience; Master's degree with 1 years of IT experience; Associate's degree with 5 years of IT experience; OR a HS Diploma or GED with 8 years of IT experience is required
Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
Must have server RedHat Enterprise Linux administration experience
Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Higher degree in a STEM-related discipline
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server & workstation administration in an SCI classified environment.
Experience with NAS storage device (preferably NetApp) administration (ONTAP 8.x or higher; CDOT)
Solid understanding of Enterprise-level storage concepts to include all commonly used RAID-levels
Solid understanding of remediating security vulnerabilities; Experience hardening Linux systems in accordance with RMF and STIGs
Identity Management (Single Sign-On) experience
VMware/Vsphere, Trellix (McAfree) antivirus and ESXi (6.x or higher) configuration and management experience
Tenable cloud-based security scanning software.
