Arch Insurance Company is a leading provider of specialty insurance products and services. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Property business unit to help develop and expand its platform to support existing and new business lines. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions using Python, Java, and PostgreSQL to support operations, enable business growth and drive digital transformation initiatives.This is a Hybrid (twice-a-week, in office) role at our Raleigh or Jersey City offices.Responsibilities
Partners with Agile Program Manager (APM), Digital Product Manager (DPM), and Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to accurately capture stakeholder requests and system specifications and translate them into engineering artifacts, which typically include design specifications, source code, test scripts and test results.Consults with enterprise architects to ensure that the engineering realization is in accordance with Enterprise Architecture principles and software development best practices.As part of Agile teams, completes complex software development work involving creative application of design, coding and debugging methods and techniques. Keeps Agile team and APM updated on product status.Utilizes high level software development expertise to provide guidance to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve product objectives.Manages engineering risks by proactively tracking and communicating issues, devising methods to mitigate them and collaborating with involved parties to implement solutions.Leads architecture and design discussion. Interfaces with other products to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.Provides input to APM/DPM in creation of Product Roadmap and High Level Estimates.Supports business units in the resolution of in-depth user questions and issues.Maintains a working knowledge of new technology and software engineering standards & practices.Collaborates with IT management to define and develop documentation & engineering artifact standards, guidelines, processes, and templates.Education And Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.Excellent experience on Full stack engineering.At least 2 years as a lead Engineer.At least 3 years of experience in Solution Architecture leveraging modern architecture principles.Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development.Strong proficiency in Python and Java.Experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and popular JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js).Experience with event driven architecture.Experience with system integration e.g. via REST API.Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions on schedule.Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Jira).Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly grasp complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.$105,000 - $190,000/yearTotal individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.
