Manages and coordinates the activities and operation of the information security with an AFRL/RS Directorate or Division; oversees the planning and execution of security projects to protect the confidentiality and integrity of information and maintain the technical facilities that aid in this protection.Responsibilities
Plans, implements, upgrades, and monitors security measures to protect computer networks and information systems.Assesses system vulnerabilities, identifies security risks and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure that appropriate security controls are in place to safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure.Responds to computer security breaches and viruses, administers tests, and implements security measures for databases.Coordinates changes to computer databases, identifies, investigates, and resolves database performance issues, and ensures compliance with security measures for safeguarding databases.Works in specific facilities without a government sponsor under approved conditions and potentially responds to after-hours alarms within managed facilities.Develops, tests, and maintains disaster recovery plans for IT systems.Performs security audits and computer forensics.Performs independent testing to verify compliance with security specifications and prepares necessary compliance documents to support certification.Leads the development and implementation of security training and awareness programs to educate employees about information security solutions and their requirements.Maintains currency in information security technology through both formal and informal training.Assists with the development and implementation of Department of Defense and organizational policies and procedures.Closely collaborates with various security personnel and adheres to strict security protocols to ensure the integrity and protection of information systems within the organization.Performs other related duties as assigned by management.Qualifications
Mastery of information security technologies and products and their practical applications.Working knowledge of computer operating systems and networking technologies.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work with all levels of management.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Ability to manage priorities and workflow.Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.Acute attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.Education
