Description:

This position is responsible for building, deploying, and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers (virtual and physical), and supporting related system software and tools such as SSSD, NFS, SAMBA, OME, Ansible, Yum, Satellite, etc. This is a 7x24x365 operations and support organization with after-hours, weekend, and project work required.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Engineering, installation and maintenance of Linux server hardware, operating systems, and system software while following company standards, meeting project timelines, following documented processes and change procedures, and meeting customer requirements.Vulnerability management.Provide technical support to team members, customers, and other areas both within and outside of IT.Provide full life-cycle management for servers and system software.Utilize asset management tool to ensure Linux inventory is accurate and up to date.Diagnose and resolve other problems to meet service level expectations.Participate in departmental initiatives.Communicate progress, problems and best practices to management, project managers, team leads and teammates.Participate fully in 18-month Data Center Migration Project, driving physical server and OS builds/configurations, and deliver to application portfolios within project timelines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:In-depth, hands-on experience installing, configuring, supporting and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7,8,9 on VMWare ESXi hypervisor and Dell hardware for applications and databases.Ability to troubleshoot network and firewall issues preventing server communication.Working knowledge of Active Directory, Authentication Mechanisms (LDAP/Kerberos, SSSD), SUDO, NFS, SAMBA, DNS, DHCP.Experience using Dell OME to upgrade server firmware.Strong experience configuring servers to utilize EMC storage area networks.Experience and knowledge working with VMWare ESXi and vCenter.Experience with user and group management on RHEL servers.Hands-on, practical experience using Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.Experience patching Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers utilizing Ansible Automation Platform (Ansible Tower).Ability to automate using Ansible or native automation tools.Experience with Oracle RAC and Oracle Exadata Engineered Systems.Working knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform or Kubernetes.Experience and knowledge utilizing IT incident and change management tools such as Remedy.Must have the ability to pay extreme attention to detail and analyze information from multiple sources to determine best course of action.Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on customer commitments.High level of demonstrated self-initiative and self-learning.Ability to communicate and work with and influence others including all levels of management, vendors, and other internal and external groups.Ability to build relationships and work in a team atmosphere as well as work independently, prioritizing major tasks by overall impact to the company, team, or project.Ability to provide and accept feedback.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Understanding of rules and regulations that govern the use of technology, such as NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley and internal policies.Professional oral and written communication skills.Understanding of how activities impact functional budget.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

BS/BA in Computer Science or MIS is preferred or equivalent work experience; four (4) years of relevant technical experience is an acceptable substitute.A minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of service (depending on job level), providing technical and organizational support for in-scope technologies. When relevant technical experience is substituted for a degree, the minimum experience requirement increases by four (4) years.
