Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) Project Management Engineer (Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer- Engineering Program Management & Systems Engineering)

to work onsite at JSC primarily as a part of their International Space Station (ISS) Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) project management team. As a member of the Aerospace Civil Systems Group Human Space Flight team, you will be responsible for providing systems management leadership and portfolio management of science, research and development initiatives supporting NASA programs.Work ModelThis is a full-time position based at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, which requires 100% onsite work.What You’ll Be DoingAs an ECLSS Senior Project Management Engineer, you will be required to provide support to NASA program offices as they formulate plans and requirements for engineering, science, and research activities.You will assist with program office matters such as acquisition, cost, and schedule development matters, including consultations on payload integration matters.Serve as a technical specialist and systems manager, tasked with requirements development, interface definition, science planning, and integration.Coordinate requirements, technical objectives, interfaces, and standards with domain experts and team members.You will be a member of and/or lead a team and assisting in planning, acquisition, and development projects.Participate in technology planning and development; performing evaluation of project plans and payloads; develop procurement specifications; prepare details of analytical reports, including preliminary findings and recommendations.What You Need to be SuccessfulMinimum Requirements for the Project Engineer- Engineering Program Management & Systems EngineeringBachelor's degree in engineering, science, or another appropriate technical subject area.At least 6 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience in related human spaceflight engineering, life support systems, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers.Knowledge of managing a human space flight project from formulation to execution.Ability to work within a diverse team environment and many engineering disciplines, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA and Aerospace Corporation organizations, projects, and programs.Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically approx. once per quarter (5-10%).This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Project Engineer- Engineering Program Management & Systems Engineering include:Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or another appropriate technical subject area.At least 10 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience in related human spaceflight engineering, life support systems, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment.Expertise managing a human space flight project from formulation to execution.Proficiency working across many human space flight subject areas to formulate your analysis and recommendation.Demonstrated experience working with NASA, International Partners, and commercial providers.Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills, including development of and briefing of decision packages and complex information in a succinct and polished manner.How You Can Stand OutIt would be impressive if you have one or more of these:Advanced degree in engineering, science, or another appropriate technical subject area.More than 10 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience in related human spaceflight engineering, life support systems, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment.Experience and ability to integrate across teams and present findings and recommendations to customers and peers.Ability to work independently and serve as a leader with vision on your scope of work.Leadership CompetenciesOur leadership philosophy is simple: every employee, regardless of level and role, can demonstrate leadership.
