How you’ll LEADUniversal Music Group Nashville (UMGN) is currently seeking an Analyst reporting directly to Senior Vice President, Commerce. This position will have a central role in the team, constructing statistical insights and predictive metrics, conducting research on artists, and analyzing new music. These efforts will be used to evaluate song performance, identify new artists, support promotion strategy, and improve the label’s understanding of new music metrics. This role will work closely with the Senior Vice President, Commerce to provide precise reporting and necessary business tools for Universal Music Group Nashville. The position requires a strong skill set in mining, testing, and analyzing data.
How you’ll CREATE:
Develop and test statistical and predictive models to support artist identification, signing decisions, song evaluation, and promotion strategy
Conduct research to evaluate new music and improve the organization’s understanding of new music metrics
Own the creation of key data sets that drive existing and future internal reporting tools within Universal Music Group Nashville (UMGN)
Provide practical and creative data solutions on large sets of data
Support the Data & Research Team on data initiatives pertaining to A&R, ensuring optimal data delivery for all projects
Liaison with Corporate Data team to stay informed and up to date on latest data and analytic tools available internally and externally
Communicate closely with analytics and A&R teams in the gathering and application of music insights
Collect, prepare, and explore a variety of music data, and construct new methods to draw insights from this data
Develop and implement new analytical processes and/or technologies
Bring your VIBE:
Proficiency with R or Python and SQL, as well as expertise with Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
A direct background and/or current position with a heavy use of data analytics
A passion for data, especially for creating efficient and scalable models
A rabid desire to acquire knowledge from anywhere, whether related parallel industries to highly unlikely sources, and apply it to our situation with constant trial and error
Research and development of complex data models, algorithms, and techniques
A relaxed and confident approach to all business relationships internally and externally
Passionate about new music
Experience:
A minimum of 1-2 years of experience using databases and analytic tools to build business solutions
Education:
Undergraduate or technical degree with highly relevant background required.

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
