Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled SQL/BI Analyst to join our team at Barings, a leading global investment management firm. In this role, you will support our private side of the business, which invests in various asset classes including bank loans, private debts, capital solutions, BDCs, real estate debt, and equity. You will collaborate with teams in both the U.S. and U.K., providing critical insights and reporting on capital structures and investments.
Key Responsibilities
Power BI:
Design, build, and maintain Power BI and Power BI Paginated Reports from scratch.
Transition reporting focus from SSRS to Power BI, ensuring reports are detailed, print-ready, and formatted correctly.
Understand and apply differences between Power BI and paginated reports, including creating fixed-layout reports for operational and compliance needs.
T-SQL:
Develop and debug SQL code, including queries and stored procedures.
Troubleshoot and resolve data issues, ensuring accurate reporting and identifying underlying problems with data or reporting systems.
Enhance and maintain existing stored procedures and resolve issues in current implementations.
DAX:
Utilize DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for advanced data modeling and analysis within Power BI and other Microsoft data tools.
Apply DAX queries effectively for real-time data analysis and complex calculations, with support and training provided as needed.
Team Environment
Collaborate with a dedicated team of 6-7 FTEs in an understaffed environment, requiring strong teamwork and communication skills.
Interface with internal customers, demonstrating the ability to communicate complex technical details clearly and professionally.
Exhibit a professional demeanor suited to the firm’s culture, with a focus on articulate and well-prepared communication.
Desired Skills and Experience
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Power BI and Power BI Paginated Reports.
Strong T-SQL skills with experience in writing and debugging SQL code.
Competency in DAX for business intelligence and data analysis.
Industry Knowledge:
Experience in financial services is a plus but not required.
Familiarity with private asset investments (e.g., bank loans, private debts) is advantageous.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and discuss past projects in detail.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
