The Alliance is the statewide coalition of sexual assault crisis service programs working to end sexual violence through victim assistance, community education, and public policy advocacy. The mission of Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence is to create communities free of sexual violence and to provide culturally affirming, trauma-informed advocacy, prevention, and intervention services centered on the voices of survivors.The Director of Law Enforcement Services is an experienced leader dedicated to improving victim safety and criminal justice practices to strengthen the systems that respond to sexual assault crimes. This role involves providing training and technical assistance to support Connecticut’s Sexual Assault Criminal Justice Response, Enhancement and Model Policy Advisory Committee, complementing the efforts of the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council and the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection. This position requires collaboration with both law enforcement and advocates to enhance cooperation and ensure a seamless response to the needs of victims and survivors of sexual violence.The Law Enforcement Services Manager is a full-time position with benefits. This position reports to the Executive Director.Essential Functions:
Serve as the lead and the primary contact between the Police Officers Standards and Training Council, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, law enforcement, and sexual assault advocatesProvide leadership and support to the Sexual Assault Criminal Justice Response, Enhancement and Model Policy Advisory Committee established by PA 24-127Work with stakeholders to develop and distribute information about services available to victims of sexual violence as established by PA-127Work with both law enforcement and advocates to strengthen collaborations between the criminal justice system and community-based services to provide support to victims of sexual violence via training, technical assistance and resource developmentDevelop semi-annual reports detailing the criminal justice response to sexual assault crimes and recommendations for systems improvementsConvene regional meetings of sexual assault advocates and law enforcement officers investigating sexual assault crimes to foster collaboration and increase victim supportSupport the development and implementation of curricula for training law enforcement officers and sexual assault advocatesBuild support for Alliance initiatives among community stakeholders, state lawmakers and state officialsRepresent The Alliance on state committees, task forces and coalitions, and provide training and presentations about Alliance initiatives as neededPerform other job‐related duties as assigned by the Executive DirectorEducation and Years of Experience:
Bachelors Degree in related field and 5+ years of related law enforcement experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceQualifications:
Successful experience in public speaking and media relationsDemonstrated experience in issue-based campaigns, public policy advocacy or lobbyingDemonstrated experience working with victims of crime, trauma survivors or other communities impacted by violenceExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent analytical skillsAbility to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with diverse and active groupsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to accurately update and maintain recordsValid driver’s license and vehicle requiredThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.Additional Information:
The successful candidate must acquire and maintain Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor/Advocate Certification within the first six months of employment.Benefits Include:
