what the South Carolina State Museum can be for our next generation of visitors, students, and scholars, and enjoy living in South Carolina’s capital city, recently ranked the 7th most affordable city in America by the Wallstreet Journal/Realtor.com.The South Carolina State Museum seeks a Support Services Manager to supervise the State Museum's Building Services Department; provide routine maintenance of the 4D theatre; support the Special Events team; control and maintain inventory of event and housekeeping supplies; provide general support and assistance to the Director of Visitor Services; work in public spaces and assist and interact with Museum Guests as needed. Responsibilities include:Managing the Building Services Department; hiring, training, and supervising maintenance and janitorial staff, ensuring all staff is properly trained in event set-up and cleaning processes, MSDS, guest service, Museum policy and procedure, and 4D Theater operations. Assigns work, special projects, event set-up, and preventative maintenance to include floor care routines. Completes tasks independently as well as in a team leadership role. Supports the overall daily maintenance of the building, theater, and grounds on a regular basis to ensure problems are corrected immediately and normal deterioration is kept to a minimum.Managing supply inventory for Building Services/Housekeeping, the 4D Theater, and Event/Meeting equipment in compliance with state procurement policies. Works with the Manager of Rentals and Special Events and the Special Events Coordinator to maintain rental supplies in neat and orderly storage. Schedule and coordinate movements of the rental supplies including setup, teardown, and technical support while assuring wear and tear is at a minimum and preventive maintenance is performed.Developing and maintaining proficiency in the operations, routine maintenance, and cleaning of the 4D Theater to include routine projector maintenance, repair parts, and 4D effect consumables such as snow and bubble solutions. Performs daily and weekly updates of guest-facing digital signage and background music for events, movies, and shows, and seasonal promotions.Working closely with event planners and other departments to ensure the Museum meets the needs of various events and exhibitions. Overseeing the setup and teardown of event spaces, ensuring everything is in place and functioning properly. Works closely with the Manager of Rentals and Special Events to coordinate event plans and layouts to include managing and scheduling contract services used for event support and specialized cleaning. Leads or participates in interdepartmental event planning and museum logistics meetings.Fleet management including overseeing all museum vehicles, drivers, and related assets; ensuring their operations, conditions, compliance, and performance are optimal, assigning vehicles to drivers, regular maintenance and cleaning of vehicles; maintaining detailed records of vehicle performance, maintenance, and driver activities; providing regular reports to Director of Visitor Services on fleet status, costs, and performance.Assisting and supporting as needed in other Visitor Services Departments including Public Safety, Admissions, Retail, Group Visits, and Exhibitions.All other duties as assigned.Minimum and Additional Requirements

College degree or High School Diploma and at least 2 years operational and customer service management experience.Ability to use calculator, copier, laser printer, computer, and keyboards.Knowledge of cleaning and light maintenance best practices.Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements related to building codes, ADA accessibility, and environmental health and safety regulations.Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and comfort with Point of Sale and automated control software.Ability to manage projects and collaborate with other departments.Must be capable of accessing storage areas and lifting up to 50 lbs.Ability to make frequent rounds and inspections of museum facilities.Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.Preferred Qualifications

College degree and at least 2 years operational and customer services management experience.Ability to operate equipment such as power washer, leaf blower, power tools, and hand tools; must be sighted.Must apply online. Some nights, holidays, and weekend work required.
