Job Summary:
This pool has been established to accept applications for openings for part-time instructors that may arise throughout the year. Teach lower division general education and major required Human Development and Family Science classes.
Required Qualifications:
Applications are reviewed for minimum qualifications. In order to be considered, your application must clearly show you meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, Child Development, Social Work, Education Counseling, or related field.
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered principles and an understanding of the community college mission.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, including faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer recent college teaching experience, working knowledge of computer software and Learning Management Systems.
Experience with different modalities of instruction, including synchronous and asynchronous online learning.
Expertise or experience in teaching from a social justice perspective. Experience teaching in a K-12 environment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to work with staff and students.
Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Responsibilities:
Teach Human Development and Family Sciences classes.
Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes.
Assign and grade student work; report student attainment of course outcomes.
Keep abreast of development in subject area and educational technology, innovative teaching techniques, and continuously strive for professional improvement.
Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out-of-class contact with students.
Exemplify and promote work within the mission of LBCC.
Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages.
Promote both a classroom environment and a curriculum of equity and inclusivity.
Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
Participate as assigned in occasional department and advisory meetings.
