Cyber Systems Administrator

to join our dynamic team in Landover, MD.

Our program provides full life cycle support for a large Information Technology (IT) system for the Department of Defense (DoD). This program delivers full life-cycle engineering support for all system elements including Development (hardware, software and networks), Systems and Security Engineering (Integration, testing and Deployment), Sustainment (Logistics, and field support), Network Operations Center (NOC)/Help Desk, and Government user training support for the user community.

The ideal candidate will possess experience with NAS and SAN technologies and administering VMWare and ESXi 5.0 or later.

The

Cyber System Administrator

will be responsible for but not limited to:

Maintaining smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.

Developing and monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

Making recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinating installation, and providing backup recovery.

Interacting with users and evaluating vendor products.

Installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle Sun Server X4 Series, x86, including virtualized servers.

Performing regular day-to-day Systems Administration activities such as User Administration, Disk Management, Package Install, Patch Management, Storage Management, NFS Administration, and disaster recovery/fail-over.

Identifying, analyzing, fixing, and determining root cause, following up, and coordinating changes to resolve complex problems involving hardware, software, networking, and applications.

Ensuring backups are completed successfully.

Performing backup restores from NAS and tape for system users.

Monitoring and ensuring adequate security for hosts and providing access control for file systems.

Assisting in maintenance of virtualized server environment using VMWare.

Creating and configuring hosts and VMs and allocating corresponding system resources as required.

Maintaining and patching existing hosts and VMs using VMWare COTS product.

Supporting a variety of server and desktop COTS, agents, and GOTS applications.

Additional Duties:

Maintaining operational procedures and guides and creating tickets to document all break/fix incidents.

Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system-wide software, and allocating mass storage space.

Work Schedule:

This position is Monday – Friday 3rd Shift (Night Shift) 11pm – 7am (flexible by 1-2hrs). This program does allow for a flexible work schedule and is within walking distance from a Metro station.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

An active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph is required.

A Bachelor's degree with five (5+) years of related experience in systems administration; or an Associates degree with seven (7+) years of related experience; or a High-school Diploma/GED with nine (9+) years of applicable work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirements.

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in administration; implementing and troubleshooting within UNIX environment.

A current/valid Security+ Certification, or equivalent.

Experience with NAS and SAN technologies.

Experience in administering VMWare and ESXi 5.0 or later.

Ability and willingness to work shift work.

Desired Qualifications:

An active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility and polygraph.

Environmental Certification (Linux+, Oracle Certified Professional, Solaris 10 System Administrator).

Familiarity with COTS products like Mac OS X, Oracle 11g r2, Veeam, Atlassian Confluence.

Possess the ability to read shell scripts.

Special consideration would be given to individuals with direct PDAS knowledge.

Experience supporting a 24x7 Network Operation Center.

Salary Range Estimates:

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees. Target Salary Range$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
