How We Work?Our hybrid work model (2-3 days in the office) gives us the face-to-face time to have creative conversations, meaningful meetings, make quick decisions and build relationships. At the same time, it offers flexibility you need to focus and do your best work.
Mission and GoalsWe're the team responsible for Gen's VPN backends, which consist of over 6,000 servers located at multiple data centers and cloud providers around the world, as well as over 100 backend applications providing services to more than 400 million client applications/devices. We design backend applications that endure heavy traffic, create lightweight and easy-to-use APIs, develop apps to assist our Infra team, and facilitate communication with clients and SDKs team. We tackle complex problems, often with unconventional ideas.

Objectives
Work with Product Managers, Engineering leaders & architects on new requirements.
Lead complex technical design of the systems architecture & components built using Go, Kotlin/Java.
Work with other team members (design, architecture, code review, etc.)
Contribute to the whole application lifecycle (development, testing, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, etc.)
Continuously maintain, improve existing server components.
Work with tools like Jira, GitHub, TeamCity, Confluence.
Work in team, as a team.
Competencies
Strong experience with Java / Kotlin / GO Experience with backend development.
Experience working SQL & No-SQL databases.
AWS/GCP/Kubernetes experience is a plus.
Ability to write test-cases, testable code, Unit tests, Integration & Automation suites.
Ability to communicate in English with the team and stakeholders (B2+).
Experience with design of REST API services.

Significant experience in building secure applications.
Docker.
Grafana.
NoSQL (Cassandra) databases.
Elasticsearch.
Kotlin DSL build jobs and integration with TeamCity.
Knowledge of VPN protocol.
