This position is for a highly motivated

Senior Systems Engineering Manager

and a member of Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering team. You will lead a small team of Systems Engineers whose charter is to design, develop, test, and deploy mission critical weapon systems for the United States Navy and Air Force. The qualified leader will have past experience in leading engineering efforts of multi-disciplined engineers that work in a dynamic environment for DoD based customers. Creativity and leadership in full system engineering life cycle experience is required, working with multiple discipline teams both local and in remote locations.

What YOU Will Do:

You will lead the engineering team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills, and will be responsible for managing project risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to and supporting Collins Aerospace process methodologies while managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements.

Technical direction - You will direct the utilization of systems engineering fundamentals, project management, and development/test concepts for mission applications.

Program technical and execution planning – You will guide team members on the creation of engineering plans, execution baselines, program execution and staffing plans, and technical risk assessments in support of customer expectations and business objectives.

Project management – You will guide team members on the management of scope, schedule and budget for systems engineering activities; candidate must have experience in using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance measurement; candidate must be able to assign and coordinate staffing.

Bid and proposal – You will lead, review, and provide guidance to team members on bid and proposal activities for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and pursuits.

Personnel administration – You will perform hiring decisions, performance assessment, and personnel management for a team of technical staff members.

What You Will Learn:

Leadership and Management : Develop and refine leadership and project management skills, including hiring, performance assessment, and personnel management, while managing project scope, schedule, and budget in a high-stakes environment.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration : Enhance collaboration skills by working within integrated agile release train teams, coordinating with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery.

Digital Engineering Practices : Learn and apply advanced digital engineering methodologies such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, digital twin simulation/integration/testing, and the automation of build delivery and test processes to enhance mission system designs.

Advanced Systems Integration : Gain experience with integrating complex Systems of Systems, enhancing skills in working with multi-enclave network systems and cutting-edge communication technologies such as VLF, HF, V/UHF, and SATCOM.

Basic Qualifications

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

Experience in all phases of product development (full life cycle) in Systems Engineering programs.

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Previous experience as an engineering lead, lead software/systems engineer, project lead, or IPT lead.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Experience/knowledge with development methods such as Iterative or Agile.

Experience with VLF, HF, V/UHF, SATCOM communication systems.

Experience in design and development of processing systems.

Experience with $15-50M+ Systems Engineering execution efforts.

Agile Coaching and execution experience in a multi-discipline (Systems, Software, and Hardware) engineering environment.

Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) design tools (Enterprise Architect, Cameo, or equivalent) using SysML.

Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), and earned value management experience.

Working knowledge of bidding and project/task estimation tools (e.g. SEER products).

Experience with Cybersecurity essential components to safeguard sensitive data.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
