Sr. IT Project ManagerOur client is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to support a public sector technology services division in modernizing its Roadway Inventory and Linear Referencing System data and Performance Monitoring System reporting tools. This position will leverage expert-level project management skills, specifically in Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and process modernization, to lead the migration from a mainframe platform to a GIS-based system.This role is mostly remote with occasional office visits in Tumwater, Washington. Open to candidates who reside within the state of Washington.Responsibilities:
Serve as the lead project manager for the technology services division, guiding the modernization of the Roadway Inventory and Linear Referencing System and Performance Monitoring System reporting tools.Utilize expertise in GIS technology and process modernization to oversee the migration from a mainframe-based system to an integrated GIS solution, incorporating data from multiple public road sources.Develop and maintain comprehensive IT project management documentation deliverables in alignment with PMBOK standards for enterprise-scale technology system acquisition and implementation projects.Lead cross-functional teams using Agile project management methodologies, managing sprints, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring project delivery within scope, budget, and timeline.Facilitate the transition of manual processes to digital systems, utilizing APIs and other data integration solutions to ensure seamless interoperability between new and existing platforms.Coordinate in-person work sessions at the organization’s offices in Tumwater, WA, up to a week at a time, approximately every three months, to gain insights into existing processes and information resources.Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular project updates, addressing risks, and ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.Senior IT Project Manager Qualifications:
Minimum of ten years of experience as a Lead Project Manager with hands-on expertise in developing IT project PMBOK documentation for large-scale technology acquisitions and implementations.At least eight years of experience in Agile project management methodologies, leading cross-functional teams, managing sprints, and ensuring successful project delivery.Minimum of six years of direct experience managing GIS technology projects, implementing enterprise-level geographic information system solutions.Demonstrated experience in managing projects that involve migrating manual processes to digital systems and integrating data through APIs or other interoperability solutions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, MS Project, and Visio, with strong verbal and written communication skills.Preferred:
Experience with IT Project Management oversight involving public sector technology standards, policies, and guidelines.Background in leading projects that modernize transportation systems, specifically involving ESRI’s GIS technologies.Previous project management experience with public sector IT initiatives.Experience creating RFI, RFP, and RFQ documents for technology procurement.Experience in transitioning applications to modern SaaS or COTS solutions.Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP).Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.Compensation: (DOE)
