Position Description:

We are seeking a

Software Engineer

focused on Kubernetes Development to join our rapidly growing engineering community. As a Kubernetes Developer, you are just launching your software development career. The Kubernetes Application Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing containerized applications deployed on Kubernetes clusters. The ideal developer will have a strong background in cloud-native development, container orchestration, and DevSecOps practices, and will play a key role in building scalable, reliable, and secure applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain applications deployed on Kubernetes clusters.

Containerization: Containerize existing applications and develop new applications with containerization in mind using Docker.

Kubernetes Management: Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot applications in Kubernetes environments, ensuring high availability and scalability.

CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployment using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bitbucket.

Monitoring & Logging: Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure application performance and reliability.

Collaboration: Work closely with DevSecOps, operations, and other development teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of applications.

Security: Implement security best practices within the Kubernetes environment to protect applications and data.

Documentation: Write and maintain technical documentation related to application deployment, architecture, and troubleshooting.

Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor application performance and optimize for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

Stay Current: Keep up with industry trends and best practices in Kubernetes, cloud-native development, and DevSecOps to continually enhance the development process.

Required Qualifications:

6+ years of experience in software development with at least 3 years focused on Kubernetes and containerized environments.

Proficiency: Strong programming skills in languages such as Go, Python, or Java. Experience with Maven, Gradle, and Quarkus.

Kubernetes Expertise: In-depth understanding of Kubernetes, including Helm, Kustomize, and Kubernetes API.

DevSecOps Tools: CI/CD tools and version control systems such as Git.

Cloud Platforms: cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, with a focus on managed Kubernetes services like EKS, GKE, or AKS.

Containerization: Proficiency with Docker and understanding of containerization best practices.

Networking: Knowledge of Kubernetes networking, including service meshes (e.g., Istio), ingress controllers, and DNS management.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications: Kubernetes certifications such as CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer).

Service Meshes: Hands-on with service mesh technologies such as Istio.

Infrastructure as Code: Infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

Stateful Application: managing stateful applications such as databases within Kubernetes.

Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes.

Salary Range:

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $115,000 - $148,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Required Education: 6+ years of software development with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement: This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for a security clearance, US Citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
