Job DescriptionAECOM Buildings + Places
is seeking a Regional Architecture Discipline Lead located in one of our prominent US West Design Studios – which include locations such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Colombus, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Denver or San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative spirit, be passionate about aligning and staffing teams for project success, as well as having the ability to promote a culture of design and technical excellence.

Job Summary/Responsibilities
The Regional Architecture Discipline Lead will act as a liaison between all Architecture Studios/Practices for Architecture, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture located in our US West Region. Key aspects of this role include:
Develop and maintain a skills matrix to have a thorough understanding of the capabilities and strengths in each market sector, the depth of skills and talent associated with people in each market sector, and representative projects in each market sector.
Work with Project and Studio Leadership for the assignment of the best teams for key projects and pursuits in line with market strategy as well as identifying and making key hires needed for ultimate project success.
Ensure that the staff maintains its alignment with industry best practices and works to advance future capabilities by identifying gaps or deficiencies with associated training, setting goals for adoption of new tools or delivery processes.
Actively participate in propagating the vision towards supporting the growth and development of AECOM’s Design presence in the market while maintaining a best-in-class design solutions.
Actively identify and maintain a regional roster of discipline-specific technical reviewers and qualified quality reviews in order to be able to identify support personnel and facilitate the quality review process for any regional project. In the event quality issues are identified, engage with teams to identify the root causes, and the identification and implementation of solutions with the support of the Director of Project Delivery.
Ability to mentor junior staff members and work with the regional leadership team in the development of a new formal mentoring program.
Facilitate or support the initiation of major pursuits by actively participating in the development and review of Project Plans and incorporation of other project set up tools.
Support operations by balancing architecture utilization and staffing across the region as well as projecting utilization for the region and communicating to Operations as necessary.
Working with colleagues to identify staffing needs and responsible for their sourcing.
Understand the capabilities and strengths of global resources and identify opportunities where teams can be supplemented with additional resources in a productive and beneficial manner.
Collaborating with Regional Digital Lead by identifying opportunities for digital implementation. This includes deployment of digital tools into technical workflows as well as providing feedback from disciplines to the Digital Lead on the requested process improvements.
Collaborating with Regional Engineering Lead to advance the A/E practice in alignment with Regional Objectives of market-facing recognition of our Architectural capabilities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Architecture plus ten (10) years of related experience in the A/E consulting or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
Registered Architect.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fifteen (15) plus years in A/E Consulting; working on multi-disciplinary projects and an understanding of different challenges associated with different market sectors.
A presence in the marketplace in one of the above list key markets.
Strong written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to communicate and translate effectively both internally upwards and downwards in an organization as well as externally with clients.
Ability to develop, lead and/or implement change within an organization.
Leadership experience for diverse teams with experience in coaching and mentoring.
Knowledge of staffing and utilization and basic understanding of operational finances.
Passion for delivering quality designs to clients.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively.
Encourages collaboration between staff, regardless of discipline or location.
Has a history of his/her teams delivering projects on time and on budget while adhering to established specifications and standards and is able to oversee that others similarly are able to do so.
Experience initiating and maintaining contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues.
Demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.
