The role at a glance:
NBBJ Columbus
is seeking a
Project Manager/Project Architect
who can work independently and collaboratively with a team to manage Healthcare, Corporate or Commercial projects of varying sizes and lead work efforts of others, oversee the production of project deliverables, and interpret client needs. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, and the motivation to engage with the array of NBBJ’s resources in achieving high-performance, sustainable outcomes.
In your new role, you will:
Manage team complexity – plans, organizes, and supervises the work of a design staff of approximately 5 to 10+ individualsResponsible for accuracy and applicability of documents for entire project(s)Build and maintain day-to-day working relationships with client(s) and consultantsLead decision-making process with fiscal accountability and responsibilityDevelop and execute a management work plan for the overall project(s)Assist with proposal preparation and participate in client presentations/interviewsResponsible for all correspondence, reports, documentation, and general administration for the overall project(s)Responsible for execution of project within the boundaries of the design intentApply sound and diversified knowledge of architectural principles for all aspects of the project(s)Make independent decisions on architectural problems and methodsSolve problems creatively with consultantsNegotiate and draft/write contractsAssist with business development and collaborate with other studios, as neededDevelop and leverage existing client relationships for the purposes of winning workInterpret design concepts by collaborating with project team and translate them into workable construction systems and detailing, while maintaining design intent and advocating for design excellence.Prepare appropriate documentation and deliverables from schematic design through construction administration in accordance with established firm and industry standardsWhat you will need to succeed:
10 years of professional experience in ArchitectureAt least 5 years of experience as a Project ManagerExperience with complex Healthcare, Corporate and Commercial projectsBachelor's degree; B Arch or M Arch desiredArchitectural licensure is requiredLEED Accreditation or within 18 months of hireMust have a proven track record as a Project Architect / Project Manager with complex projects involving work that ranges from Pre-design through Construction Administration, including contract negotiation, work plan development and the ability to work with a variety of project delivery methodologiesExcellent leadership, verbal and communication skills, and effective client relationship skills and talent for leading and working with diverse teams of designersKnowledge of Revit and BIM delivery implicationsKnowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketchup, Rhino or 3DS Max desiredAbility to lead and manage multiple projects with competing deadlinesAbility to work in a collaborative, design-focused open environmentAbility to travel as the project(s) requires
