The Development Associate (DA) supports the Vice Presidents and Directors in conducting research and analyses of markets, managing various planning and zoning processes for specific projects in development, assisting in developing reports for internal project review and determining the feasibility of property for development. The DA is a creative problem solver, critical thinker, and keen analyzer. These skills will aid in the evaluation of a project for development and the management of a project from start to finish. In its supporting role of the development activities of the company, the DA works with various consultants, engineers, architects, governmental representatives, contractors, and brokers.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provides support to development staffResearches site location costs (i.e. impact fees, building permits, insurance, tax implication, etc.)Solicits and analyzes predevelopment proposals (i.e. environmental, geo-tech, survey, engineering, architecture, interior design, marketing, etc.)Researches ownership of property, trends, pricing, occupancy, costs, utility information, etc.Work with development and finance staff to finalize project specific development costsImplement development vision on project details by serving as a liaison between the construction and development departmentAssists in the creation and update of project finance packagesShops comparable properties via online searches, phone calls, and site visits.Creates market study reports, analyses, project proposals, and RFP submissions using the gathered data and informationManages and forecasts project budgets utilizing financial modeling tools and accounting softwarePhotographs sites, buildings, and propertiesEnsures the delivery of excellent client service consistent with the Milhaus brandCompiles information for clients and owner reports accurately and on timeResponds in a timely fashion to questions, correspondence, e-mails and phone requests from clients, lenders, investors, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agency personnel (management of multiple projects and hierarchy of responsibilities).Other duties as assignedRequirements

2-4 years experience in real estate development, investment, planning, or constructionA minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally specializing in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Architecture, or Urban PlanningAn advanced degree, ideally in real estate, urban planning or law, is preferred.Previous applicable work experience in real estate development, investment, planning, or construction.Must have a keen attention to detail and accuracy.Must have excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
