Job Description
Danfoss is looking for a Plant Manager to join our team in Brooklyn, OH. The leader of the Brooklyn Plant Leadership Team is responsible for leading the overall activities, goals and objectives. The Brooklyn facility has approximately 70 employees locally, which includes 40 unionized production employees. This position provides leadership and direction to all operational and functional activities to ensure that plant operation strategies, goals, objectives and deliverables are achieved. Responsible for $35 million annual in sales, the Plant Manager is responsible for successful metric-driven results, building a lean manufacturing culture, continuous improvement of all facility / equipment / production systems and the development of both professional and manufacturing talent. The Plant Manager works with internal and external customers, to ensure that effective collaboration occurs to successfully meet assigned plant goals.
This position requires the use of information or access to technology which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, the following:
• Develops and designs manufacturing strategies by contributing manufacturing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction, establishing functional objectives aligned with organizational goals. Develops and deploys technical strategies and tactics focused on operations, safety, energy usage, engineering projects, maintenance, and warehouse improvements, that improve the plant performance. Uses knowledge and experiences to optimize equipment and processes to reduce cost, maximize asset utilization, and increase plant capacity.
• Develop manufacturing financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating manufacturing requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances. Review, maintain, control, implement corrective action, and regularly report on the financial progress of the plant to maintain profit plan expectations and ensure incremental/decremental performance.
• Accountable for the implementation of Danfoss’ policies and guidelines regarding HR and EHS compliance initiatives including Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Plan, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, and local, state, and federal Environmental, Safety, and Health laws and regulations for the facility. The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s leaders are aware of Danfoss’ policies and practices regarding these areas and are complying as required.
• Develops, motivates, and coaches organizational team members and direct reports to Build Organizational Capability. Serves as a champion for development planning, succession planning, and goal setting for direct reports.
• Promotes and incorporates “Safety" as an integral part of the culture and a strategy in all aspects of the plant and demands focused safety results from the entire organization. Leads the development and deployment of a Zero Incident Safety Culture.
• Plan and lead the plant’s capital equipment programs for manufacturing and information systems. Oversees the implementation of Danfoss Quality System, and Danfoss Business Systems initiatives to achieve continuous improvement goals and foster an environment of employee engagement and high performance.
Background & Skills
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required in business, engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
• Prior leadership experience working in a union environment (Collective Bargaining Agreements, Negotiations, Grievance Handling, etc.)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualification s
• Master’s degree
• Lean Manufacturing Experience
• IATF 16949 Experience
• Experience interacting with internal and external customers
