We are seeking a Sr. Technical Accounting Manager in Chicago to provide hands-on leadership of the accounting team. The candidate will have responsibility for the day-to-day accounting operations, supervision of accounting staff and management of the month end close process, the corporate consolidation, monthly reporting, technical accounting research, and all relevant support for audits and tax compliance. This role will report to the Chief Accounting Officer.
Key responsibilities include:
Support all aspects of the monthly financial close process including account reconciliations, consolidation, and preparation of monthly reporting packagePrepare financial statements, schedules, and analyses, along with supporting documentation for the year-end audit and monthly reviewProvide guidance to other team members, lead the company's consolidation process, review journal entries, manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, and ensure the accuracy of the financials using U.S. GAAPAssist CAO in creation and maintenance of internal controls and policiesManage annual audits and interim test work performed by external auditors. Manage external auditors' requests, schedules, and timelines.Work with external tax professionals to ensure tax filings are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Assist with annual income tax PBC requestsImplement automation of accounting processes and assist with special projects as neededQualifications:
5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a combination of public (Big 4) and private3+ years of management experience. Track record of developing high-performance teamsBachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA requiredIn-depth knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting.Exceptional communication skills that demonstrate the ability to interact with all levels of the organizationStrong leadership with proven ability to collaborate with business partners to drive changeStrong Microsoft Excel skillsExperience in fintech industry a plusExperience in a private equity or venture capital backed company a plusExperience with NetSuite and Salesforce a plusAbility to work from the Chicago office 2-3 days a weekWhy Join Us?
