Fundamental Mission:
The Technical Sales Manager shall meet and interact with all key focal points including end users/distributors to:Execute the technical aspects of the sales strategy,Identify market needs that will inspire the development of new solutions aimed at further differentiating our offer, and formalize them into new products specifications/ offersDrive R&D and Vallourec Global solutions to work on new products developmentDefine, recommend and execute the product and service strategy for assigned products,Execute the product strategy defined by other Product Leaders,Execute the service strategy defined by Vallourec Global Solutions teams#LI-KW3
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following:
Technical support to customers:Respond to technical questions from customers, vendors, sub-contractors and sales peopleResolve technical issues arising during the sales engagement, and help customers to define specifications and requirements.Respond to manufactured product NCR's and waiver requests as needed.Lead multi competency (Sales, QA/QC, 3rd party laboratories) team efforts to resolve customer claimsProvide technical documents to customers, e.g. data sheets, product specifications and comparisons of performance parameters for OCTG and related products and services.Identification of market needs for new solutions development:Visit customers regularly to identify future needs on products and services.Interact and call on engineers, e.g. well design engineers, completion engineers, material specialists of Exploration & Production, Oil & Gas and Engineering companies.Provide Product Leaders with the market intelligence needed for them to specify the development of new solutions, including by making joint sales calls to customersWhen acting as product leader, write the specification of new products, interact with R&D, and define, recommend and execute the product strategy.When relevant, participate to Technical Coordination meetings.Technical promotion/presentation of our products:Participate in various presentations and trade show exhibits as presenter or host. Contribute to their preparation (presentations, papers)Participate in industry work groups such as API, AADE and SPE.Contribute to the technical content of print or web documents aimed at describing our offer to customersTrain commercial sales personnel to better understand our products and their applicationsOrganize presentations, lunch & learns for customersIf relevant be a trainer for Tubular Essentials courseSupport Inside Sales team to ensure orders comply technically with customer requirements.In General:Follow all applicable specifications, work instructions and requirements, company policy and procedures, and adhere to all safety rules.Responsible for other duties as assigned.Competency:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or a related fieldExperience in manufacturing and usage of OCTG or related productsExperience in sales, negotiations and customer serviceExperience in oil and gas industryPreferred Skills and Knowledge:
Understanding of Petroleum Exploration or DevelopmentAdvanced understanding of technical terminology related to company products & servicesAbility to present to products and services to wide range of people with varying levels of technical knowledgeAbility to sell products technicallyAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to organize and prioritize work load and meet deadlinesAbility to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clientsAbility to work cooperatively in group situations and takes responsibility to help resolve conflictsUnderstanding of Supply Chain ManagementTravel Requirements
The position may require up to 50% travel.Position located in Houston.Supervisory Responsibilities:
