Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and dynamic
Director of Communications
to join our leadership team in
Fresno, CA .The Director of Communications reports to the Business Development Officer and is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and development of all internal and external communications, corporate events such as groundbreaking ceremonies, ribbon cuttings, grand openings, and other UHC community and employee events. This position leverages excellent interpersonal and communication skills to help ensure a successful performance of public relations campaign strategies upholding UHC's mission and overall business goals.The Director of Communications is expected to generate written correspondence, press releases, UHC's Annual Report and Board of Directors Annual Report. Maintains positive and effective relationships with media contacts and coordinates interviews with appropriate UHC representatives.Responsibilities:Summary of Responsibilities:Works closely with the Business Development Officer and other members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to:Function as liaison and media talent for local and regional media outlets.Generates communications and press releases for local and regional media outlets.Develops a strategy for increasing UHC exposure in health center communities and surrounding areas.Function as event coordinator for UHC's corporate and foundation events and projects in close contact with ELT and SLT.Assists in development of UHC outreach plan for content and distribution.Supports UHC Foundation communication needs.Assists with strategic planning and long term organizational goals.PERFORMANCE AREA 1: Community Development and OutreachResponsible for development and direction of all community development programs.Maintains a calendar and schedule of all corporate and civic events.Communicates information regarding UHC to various audiences including patients and community stakeholders.Assists in development of the UHC marketing plan with BDO for content and distribution.Represents UHC at local civic meetings and maintains professional image at all times to promote the organizations presence in the community.Monitors external and internal environment to identify areas of communication improvements.Assists in opening of new UHC sites as needed.Supports the UHC Foundation fundraising efforts to develop an strategic plan of written communication request.PERFORMANCE AREA 2: Media and Public RelationsFunctions as liaison and media talent for local and regional media outlets.Assists in communicating to local and regional media outlets as needed in opening of new UHC sites and UHC events.Maintains positive and effective relationships with media contacts and coordinates interviews and press releases with appropriate UHC representatives as necessary.Collaborates for content on UHC Website and Intranet pages.Coordinates UHC events as necessary to include groundbreaking ceremonies, ribbon cutting ceremonies, grand openings, and other UHC community and employee events as necessary.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATIONBA/BS in Public Relations, Communications, or closely related field. Masters degree preferred.LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:Possess a valid CA drivers licensePRIOR EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 5 years of experience in journalism, reporting, marketing and/or public relations. Ideally, familiarity with healthcare industry, health issues, and/or community advocacy.SKILLSProficient in the English language and in creative writing.Effective leadership/supervisory skills.Positive professional presence and insight.Excellent customer relations experience.Strong general and technical writing skills.Expert computer skills with familiarity with MS Office products.Flexibility and dependabilityDemonstrated good problem-solving skills and sound judgmentEffective time and project management skillsExpert level understanding of modern office practices and procedures including emailAttention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasksAble to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyThe pay range for this Exempt position starts at $102,995.16 a year.
