As a Tech Writer on our team you will be using your skills and expertise to work with subject matter experts, to obtain an in-depth comprehension of these products necessary to meet the documentation specifications for our programs and proposals.The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains air, land, sea, space and cyber. https://www.sncorp.com/company/business-areas/Responsibilities:Work with systems engineers, software engineers, and field service teams to identify content updates required for various system documentationFollow change and configuration management processes during revisionsParticipate in project meetings to identify upcoming documentation needsAdapt to changes in system features in a rapid-moving environmentReceive direction from lead Technical Writer for project assignment and taskingMust-haves:Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and typically 3 or more years of relevant experienceA higher level degree may substitute for experienceRelated experience may be considered in lieu of required educationKnowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and standardsUnderstanding of desktop publishing tools, including publishing features of Microsoft WordExperience in other elements of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe publishing tools and editing, layout, and production of technical documents which include graphics, tables, and other embedded contentExperience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teamsExperience in documenting software productsXML documentation experiencePreferred:Ability to plan and participate in Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) preparation, technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and technical or operations manualsExperience preparing documentation with minimal input (written or verbal) from subject matter experts, such as design engineers and program managers, to prepare initial drafts and templatesFamiliarity working with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of product and documentation requirements. Verify content meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audiencePrior experience creating and maintaining documentation templates, layout guides, and graphics resourcesUnderstanding of internal technical reference documentation, including data libraries, training material, process/procedure guidesKnowledge of techniques for reviewing, editing, and formatting business proposals, product management documents, RFP responses, marketing communications, and other organizational documents as requestedExperience with Adobe FrameMakerBackground in the Aerospace and Defense Industry or DoDSNC offers a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more.IMPORTANT NOTICE:This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
