Position Summary:
The Claims Advocate monitors and resolves commercial property and casualty claims, including Worker's Compensation claims. This position requires a highly motivated and organized individual. The Claims Advocate provides, maintains and, as needed, improves customer service and builds professional relationships with multiple customer contacts. The Claims Advocate must perform to the ethical standards required by the Colorado Department of Insurance and Moody Insurance Agency, Inc.
Job Functions:
Following is a brief outline of essential tasks for the Claims Advocate position, but other responsibilities and duties may be assigned:Manage customer relationship and provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Claim Service Level guidelines for new and outstanding claims from first contact through resolution. Serve as liaison, resource and advocate for customers. Respond to requests from internal and external customers (i.e. insured clients, carriers, claimants, medical providers, account managers, producers) in a timely manner.Answer incoming claims calls; determine applicable policy, appropriate line of coverage, and applicable policy dates for all dates of loss. Complete appropriate Loss Notice forms on new claims (Automobile, General Liability or Property), and submit to the proper carrier or broker for handling within 24 hours of receipt of loss or claims information.Provide on-call after-hours phone coverage several nights and weekends each month, as scheduled by Director of Client Services to ensure consistent 24/7 on-call support for emergency after-hours claims calls.Review and update all claim data the same day it is received in ImageRight, including claim acknowledgements, indemnity payments, closing notices, correspondence, and claim activity. Monitor ongoing claims investigations and follow up with carrier for status.Promote open communication with agency's other service lines. Ensure Manager, Producers, and Account Managers are aware of any claims issues; provide status updates on claims as needed or as requested by Manager, Producers or Account Managers.In coordination with Claims Team, review worker's compensation claims on a quarterly basis and monitor reserves to reflect accuracy.When applicable, conduct quarterly claim reviews for clients in coordination with insurers.Monitor standard line carrier reserves for accuracy.Provide guidance and direction on claim issues when needed to the Personal Lines Account Managers. Track and monitor Personal Lines claims as requested.Participate in insurance company meetings.Must obtain a Colorado Property and Casualty License within 90 days of hire. Thereafter, responsible to maintain a current, active license at all times. Must complete Continuing Education classes as required to maintain license or as requested by management, including work toward obtaining insurance industry designations, such as CISR, CRIS, AIC and AIS.Other duties as assignedRequirements
Ability to read and write in EnglishHigh School diploma or equivalent required. College degree or job experience in insurance, communications or other related field preferred.Must be able to obtain within 90 days of hire) a valid Colorado Property and Casualty License; insurance designations such as AIC, CPCU, ARM, or CIC strongly desired.Minimum 3 years experience in Property/Casualty Claims; at least 2 years on the Commercial side.Construction Claim Experience Preferred.Must possess proficient computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel. Previous experience with Agency Management System and/or ImageRight desired, but not required.Able to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent written and verbal communication skillsOutstanding consulting and negotiating skillsStrong customer service, team and mentoring capability required; must interact effectively with staff, clients, co-workers and management.Strong attention to detail and solid organizational skillsSolid prioritization skills, sense of urgency, and ability to work efficiently under time constraintsProven ability to analyze and solve problems
