Role Overview:
The Associate Director of Electrical Engineering will play a pivotal role in guiding and managing electrical engineering projects from conception through completion. This position involves providing technical expertise, overseeing the creation of construction documents, and ensuring the highest standards of design quality. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Director of Electrical Engineering and have opportunities for rapid advancement to a leadership position.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee electrical design projects of varying sizes and complexities, ensuring that all deliverables meet client expectations and project requirements.Coordinate and manage project timelines, delegating tasks effectively to design team members.Serve as the primary point of contact with architects, clients, and project stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and collaboration.Utilize engineering principles and methodologies to develop innovative solutions and ensure best practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle.Mentor both senior and junior engineering staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional growth and technical skills.Lead the preparation and review of technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings to ensure they are accurate and meet project specifications.Maintain a focus on quality assurance, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project criteria.Offer expert advice on planning, design, and construction across various types of facilities.Assist in strategic planning and resource allocation to support departmental goals and project demands.Assume the role of the engineer in charge of projects, taking responsibility for technical accuracy and project success.Be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally to support project needs.Qualifications & Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) certification required, with the capability to obtain licenses in multiple states.Over 15 years of experience in electrical design, including power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarm design, grounding, and performing coordination/arc flash studies.Comprehensive understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), building codes, NFPA standards, and energy codes.Experience in sectors such as government, healthcare, or aviation is advantageous.Proficiency in using REVIT and AutoCAD software for design work is essential.Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication.Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and manage multiple projects concurrently.Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative on tasks.U.S. citizenship and a valid driver's license are required.LEED Accredited Professional (AP) certification is preferred but not mandatory.Benefits:
