JOB SUMMARY:
The Occupational Therapist provides a broad continuum of services to schools from screening and evaluation to consultation and treatment of children with a wide variety of handicapping conditions, ages 3-21. The primary goal of occupational therapy in the school system is to assist the student in achieving goals as identified on the IEP and to enhance independence in the school environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.Screen students to identify those in need of further diagnostic evaluationConduct evaluations and provide information to team membersRecommend general accommodations for all studentsProvide in-service to building staff on skill development and classroom supportsDevelop goals and objectives for IEPs and complete IEP paperworkParticipate in IEP meetings, team collaborations and problem-solving meetingsProvide direct OT therapy servicesProvide information to and train teachers and teaching assistants to implement appropriate therapy goalsCollect frequent data, monitor student progress and revise IEP goals/strategies when necessaryContribute to the team's holistic approach of all factors impacting the student in all school settingsSubmit Medicaid Direct Service data on a timely basisAssist in developing instructional programs (i.e., sensory diets, handwriting, life skills)Supervise and assist in the performance review of District COTA/sOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
B.S. in Occupational Therapy, Requires Illinois State Licensure
EXPERIENCE
Pediatric experience preferred, 2 years of experience in a school setting preferred.

Highly organizedExcellent communication and collaboration skillsCreativeExcellent problem-solverCommitted to serving students by using an Educational Occupational Therapy Model
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
185 day contract (teachers' schedule), UEA member, Salary Schedule.

To be completed as per PNA by Director of Special Services.
