Position Description:
The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Critical Care Intensivist. The Department of Anesthesia is seeking faculty members for appointment on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, depending on qualifications.Responsibilities of this position include:Participating in team-based anesthesia care and personally providing anesthesia careServing as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating for effective patient outcomesActive participation in the academic activities of the Department and College of MedicineSupervising students, residents, fellows, SRNA's and non-anesthesia rotatorsProviding developmental feedback to those under supervision, verbally and in writingPreparing educational materials, leading and/or attending academic lectures and professional development eventsDemonstrated experience in promoting an inclusive team-based work environmentResearch activities are encouraged, though participation is not required for continued employment or promotion

Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in either Anesthesiology or Emergency MedicineFellowship training in the area of critical care anesthesiaCandidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of IowaCandidates must be board-certified in Critical Care (or non-US Board equivalent) or be in the certification process (pending completion of residency or fellowship). On occasion, individuals trained outside of the United States who are certified by an equivalent national certification group may be considered.
Certifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
Desirable Qualifications:
Interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical researchDemonstrated experience promoting an inclusive culture in the workforce and academic environment
