About This RoleOur Accounting team is seeking an entrepreneurial-minded Staff Accountant to join our collaborative team of professionals who are preserving and building affordable multi-family affordable housing throughout the United States. The Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities that have a direct impact on the corporate-level financial operations.In this position, you will report to the Accounting Manager in both project accounting and corporate accounting. This role is based in our Santa Monica HQ and is hybrid (3 days in the office).
What You’ll DoDaily entry and process of invoices/ electronic paymentsDaily entry of cash activity to mirror activity at muliple banksPerform monthly bank reconciliations and corporate credit card reconciliationsPrepare fixed asset and prepaid amortizations as well as period-end accrualsPrepare account reconciliations and journal entries to support the month, quarter and year-end close process for several entitiesSupport the team in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements verifying the accuracy of the general ledgerWork with external auditors for completion of annual auditPrepare intercompany eliminations for quarterly consolidated financial statementsReconcile draft closing statement to reimbursable pursuit costs prior to closing a dealReview and process expense reports – ensure compliance with expense policy guidelines and all required documentation is collectedFile 1099s after close of the fiscal yearRequirementsWhat You BringAbility to quickly obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the various financial reporting and general ledger structures.Experience in general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).A high level of professionalism and integrity in dealing with confidential issues.Ability to stay organized, meet key target dates, and produce deliverables.Ability to identify problems and engage in problem-solving.Aptitude for creating strong internal relationships within LAC. Must be a strong collaborator among peer groups within the company.Passionate about the company's double-bottom-line mission: generating appropriate returns for investors and managing great, stable communities for our residents.Your Education and Experience2-3 years of in-house accounting experienceBachelors or higher degree in accounting and/or financeStrong understanding of GAAP accountingProficiency in Microsoft Excel is requiredExperience with Yardi preferred but not requiredStrong accounting, analytical, and organizational skillsBenefitsBenefits & CompensationThe expected salary range for this position is $90,000 – $100,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
