Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We are seeking an experienced Architecture and Engineering (A&E) Project Manager to join our team at Misawa Air Base in Japan. The ideal candidate will prepare and develop construction project documents in accordance with DOD, Air Force, and Host Nation policies and design criteria, focusing on FSRM, MILCON, and other DOD planning, design, and construction programs. This role involves overseeing project performance, managing contracts, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000, depending on experience and expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct independent reviews of the performance and products of contracts
Review, evaluate and track non PMGO contractor generated contract progress reports, progress schedules, monthly status reports, financial managements and expenditures report
Identify problems of insufficient data, missing data, or other unsupported elements of non-PMO contractor submittals
Provide technical review and risk assessment of projects and coordination and completion of all project close-out documents (e.g. DD1354s, non- PMO contractor furnished As-Built drawings)
Prepare construction project documents that comply with DOD, Air Force, and Host Nation standards
Manage and oversee construction projects following FSRM and MILCON regulations
Review and track contractor progress reports, schedules, and financial documents
Efficiently manage client relationships and provide professional, effective communication
Ensure project staffing, schedule, and budget are maintained
Present project updates through verbal and graphic presentations
Business development through a doer-seller approach
Occasional travel required
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Professional Requirements:
Bachelor's in Architecture or Civil/Structural Engineering
Minimum of 8 years of experience in architecture or building engineering fields, with at least 5 years of project and client management experience
Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license required
Significant experience in modernization/replacement of aircraft hangars, aircraft maintenance facilities, and other support and ancillary facilities, highly preferred
Ability to reside in or relocate to Misawa, Japan for at least one year
US Citizen required for this position
Desired Qualifications:
Federal DoD experience
Experience with design/build alternative project delivery
Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (Revit), Bluebeam, and AutoCAD
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Location:
This role is based at Misawa Air Base in Japan and requires relocation or residence for a minimum of one year.
