The Program Specialist will be responsible for organizing and implementing fun high yield learning activities that center around math, reading, writing, science, technology, arts/crafts, career preparation, health/life skills, and character/leadership. Creates lesson plans derived from the list of BGCAA's curriculum categories, set up materials, facilitates, and evaluates programming activities for youth to ensure enrichment programming is successful. Enters member data and participation into database. The Program Specialist will assist with ensuring a safe environment for club members and staff.

Responsibilities

:

Checks in and/or out youth attending Club adhering to proceduresTakes daily class attendance and maintain accurate recordsSupervises youth in various settings including classrooms, cafeteria, playground, multipurpose rooms, and field tripsResponsible for cleaning and maintaining the Club areaPrepares and serves food adhering to strict proceduresAttends staff meetings and training sessions as prescribedMay be required to drive a shuttle bus or Club transportationPerform Club leadership duties as requestedPerform other duties as assignedMaintain close daily contact with Club staff and Club members to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructionMaintain contact with external community groups, school administration, members' parents and others.Hours:

School time: Part time hours (approx. 29 hours a week) during the school year:

1:00pm to 7:00pm; Mon-Fri .Out of school time (i.e. summer, winter, and/or spring break) may vary, but will remain a part-time position. Out of school time hours may range from 7:00am - 7:00pm.Occasional nights or weekends may be required for training, field trips, or other Club-related activities.Minimum

Qualifications

:

High School Diploma/GEDMust pass background check, reference check, and drug testMust be able to work and interact professionallyProficient with computer equipmentAbility to have adequate vision and hearing to ensure the safety of Club youth; and complete data entry requirementPreferred

Qualifications

:

Associate degree in education or related field preferredAt least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare settingMay be required to drive a shuttle bus, valid state driver's license may be required.Spanish speaking a plusExemplary written and spoken communication skillsDemonstrates dependability, accountability, and cooperationPhysical Requirements:

Preferred ability to stand for long periods of timePreferred ability to work in various weather conditions-hot, cold, rainy, etcPreferred ability to meet physical demands of working with youthPreferred ability to move equipment up to 25 poundsPreferred ability to endure periodically noisy environments (in the context of working with youth)
