Objective:The Product Engineer (PE) will partner with a Product Manager to successfully manage and grow their product line in an entrepreneurial environment within AutomationDirect.The PE is the product subject matter expert and works with suppliers on all technical aspects of product development, evaluation, new product introduction, and support through the product life cycle.Primary product ownership includes robotics.The PE is a servant leader and works cross functionally with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

Leverage your experience and product knowledge to select and assist in the development of the best products to grow the product line and meet customers' needsProduct ownership throughout the product life cycleEvaluate and test new products and technologiesSupport product through new product introductions, documentation, training, and second tier backline support (only during normal business hours)Life-cycle projects to improve product quality or lower product costSupplier evaluation including product offering, technology roadmap, and support capabilitiesSome self-directed domestic and international travel is required

Qualifications:

Requires education in technical discipline with preference for BS in mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering or at least 10 years of related experienceRequires 6 years' experience (10 years preferred) in industrial control & automation market or OEM/manufacturing using robots.Preferred experience includes product application, control system integration, hands-on calibration, configuration, technical support, and/or product design involving robotsExperience with various robotic technologies (end effectors, vision systems, scara robots, cobots, delta robots, or cartesian robots) is desirableExperience with industrial control products such as PLCs, HMIs, process instrumentation or signaling is desirableExperience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, etc.) is desirableExperience with CAD such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. is desirableMust possess self-confidence, organizational skills, time management skills and excellent communication skillsMust also be self-starter that is able to work on and manage projects independently, meet deadlines and have excellent interpersonal skills
