The pay rate for the Industrial Electrician starts at $32 / hour depending on experience and shift. DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Uses hand, power and precision measuring tools to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures. Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the county, state and federal levels. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions and other miscellaneous electrical function. Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors. Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic, pneumatic electrical control systems, and motor control circuitry. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices. Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade workers. Define scope of work for new electrical installation projects as well as upgrade or refurbishment to existing system, build a bill of materials list, request job or parts quotes, work with third party contractors and/or vendors and submit written job requisitions. Navigate the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to identify parts in inventory, submit requisitions, review work orders and preventative maintenance tasks. Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies. Follow Sugar Creek Packing Co. safety rules and procedures. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent (GED). EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of journey-level electrical experience, OR completion of a four-year, accredited technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance and two (2) years of electrical experience. Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved is also acceptable. CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: None at this time. ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED Know how to test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Possess working knowledge of NFPA 79: Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, Ugly's Electrical Reference, NFPA 70 National Electrical Code. Know relevant Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for proper electrical installation for industrial electrical installations. Possess strong experience with with 3-phase, 480V, and industrial troubleshooting. Able to routinely use computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel). Know how to troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Able to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures. Know how to competently program and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFD). Able to safely and proficiently use shop tools (both hand and power). Able to safely utilize a forklift and high lift. Possess strong self-motivation and exemplary work ethic. Able to be a self-directed individual but also take direction from plant leadership. Possess strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. OTHER REQUIREMENTS No unusual physical requirements.
