JOB SUMMARY:
Penn State Health has an opportunity for an Experienced Physician Assistant to provide direct patient care in our Critical Care Units at Holy Spirit Medical Center and Hampden Medical Center.
The Physician Assistant works in compliance with guidelines as outlined in the supervising agreement and is responsible for assisting physicians in the medical care and management of patients, performing such functions as making rounds, physical examinations, providing in-house, round-the-clock coverage, coordinating, providing, and managing the care of critically ill patients. Must be able to perform arterial lines, central lines, vent management, etc.
A wide degree of patient care autonomy/latitude is expected. The Physician Assistant is credentialed and works in collaboration with the attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide specialty care to critically ill patients and will rotate between Hampden Medical Center and Holy Spirit Medical Center. This position includes weekends and rotating holidays.
Experience in Critical Care preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of Pennsylvania required.
National Certification in Pennsylvania or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in Pennsylvania required.
Relevant experience preferred.
Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, including ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life support and BLS (Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support Certification.
