Your design will be subject to safety and efficacy requirements
The level of title will be determined case by case, based on the candidate's qualifications and years of experience: senior engineer, staff engineer, principal engineer or higher.
Required Qualifications and Abilities:
Educational Background:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.Technical Skills:Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages like C/C++Operating Systems: Proficiency in working with Linux OS is a must.Familiarity with platforms like ROS, ROS 2, or similar, is a plus.Experience:5+ years of industry experience in robotics software development. Experience in the medical device or surgical robotics industry is a plus.Experience with Embedded Linux or QNX at multiple levels, including application and device drivers.Expertise in designing and implementing multithreaded software with robust thread safety.Experience implementing real-time software diagnostics with a strong understanding of functional safety principles.Experience with embedded systems and EtherCAT, CANopen or other protocols for real-time communication.Experience with real-time motion control systems.Experience designing and developing software products in a regulated industry or for mission-critical applications.Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).Experience with publish/subscribe architectures, service/client architectures, and inter-process communications.In-depth knowledge of software practices and techniques, including testability, maintainability, and scalability.Knowledge:Knowledge of robotics communication protocols and middleware.Deep understanding of real-time systems.Working understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, and motion control algorithms.Soft Skills:Strong analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.Good communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers.Responsibilities:Design, develop, test, and maintain software for robotic systems with a focus on safety and reliability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and product managers, to define software requirements and specifications.Optimize software performance and ensure real-time operation of robotic systems.Design and implement software with robust multithreading and thread safety mechanisms.Design, implement, and fine-tune software for robotic motion control systems.Contribute to hazard and failure mode analysis and define appropriate mitigations and implement them in software.Develop, document, and implement detailed software designs and conduct unit tests.Conduct comprehensive code reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal guidelines.
