St. Vincent de Paul - Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of greater Cincinnati for over 150 years with basic needs such as food, medicine, and homelessness prevention through its outreach center in the West End and through fifty-six parish-based volunteer Conferences (chapters). SVDP provides holistic direct assistance and systemic change services while treating neighbors in need with dignity, and compassion. At St. Vincent de Paul, diversity is a fact and inclusion an act. Scope of position:
This position is responsible for supporting our Council's food assistance as well as providing logistical support to the Outreach Center Program team. The Warehouse Associate will contribute to the daily operations of the Neyer Outreach Center's (NOC) processing center and food pantry, with a primary focus of working in the warehouse, walk-in cooler & walk-in freezer. The role is full-time Monday-Friday. The typical schedule will be 7:30am-4:00pm (with a half hour lunch) This team member must consistently model the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
Responsibilities and Duties:Maintain appropriate logs and records of donations.Organize the warehouse space to ensure safe and efficient storage of items.Ensure that products are labeled and stored according to food safety guidelines.Receive, inspect, and sort food and non-food donations.Work closely with volunteers and other staff to support pantry and warehouse operations.Work with Warehouse Coordinator to support the logistical needs of NOC-based programs and services, including drives and special events, as well as supporting the Council's Pantry NetworkHelp prepare outgoing shipments and donations, including working with partners and SVDP ConferencesProcessing and receiving deliveries and donations that arrive in the warehouseUsing pallet jacks and/or forklift to move/put away orders.Assist Warehouse Coordinator:
Support daily operations in the NOC processing center and food pantryProvide support during set up and close down of pantry and warehouse operationsShop with neighbors in Food pantry when neededSupport volunteers in warehouse tasksOther:
Participate in staff meetings and trainingsOther tasks and duties as assignedJob Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or its equivalent requiredStrong communication skills and ability to work as part of a teamFlexibility and a willingness to help where neededAbility to problem solve and coordinate resources, including leading volunteersAbility to pass a background checkMust be 18 years of age or olderStrong Planning and organizational skillsBasic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft office productsDesire to serve our neighbors and carry out the mission of SVDPPrevious Warehouse experience preferredPrevious Pallet jack and/or forklift experience preferredPhysical Requirements:
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to operate a pallet jack and forkliftAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbsAbility to speak, hear, and engage in effective interaction, both in person and over the phone
