WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Coastal Engineer to be located in our Baton Rouge office. We are looking for an individual who is inspired to grow with us and become an integral part of our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of our dynamic and highly talented national coastal protection practice with a focus on Louisiana clients, including projects related to coastal resiliency planning, assessment of flood and erosion risks, shoreline management plans, feasibility studies and site appraisals, coastal monitoring, marine water quality, dredging and beneficial use, waterfront development planning, as well as physical modelling specification and supervision.
Your Impact
Work closely with our Louisiana and Texas Business Line Leaders to identify and position for projects in the Gulf states, including Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
Lead and mentor junior staff in developing their skills in planning, design and construction management of coastal protection and related projects.
Manage projects as assigned, including assisting with project pursuits, development of scope and level of effort, project execution, and project closeout, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
Perform and/or provide oversight over technical work including site visits, studies, data collection, analysis and evaluations, hydraulic calculations and modeling; prepare engineering reports and supporting calculations and documents, prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated track record of successful project execution for Louisiana’s Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA).
Master’s, Ph.D. or Post-Doctoral Degree in Civil or Coastal Engineering.
20+ years of relevant post education experience in coastal engineering projects with an emphasis on coastal protection.
Demonstrated team leadership skills leading teams of other engineers and subconsultants in multi-disciplinary projects,
Effective external leadership skills including effectively interacting with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Strong verbal and written communications skills when interacting with others, with the ability to express intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Highly proficient with coastal engineering principles, practices, and methods and their application to environmental and project work-related issues, including strong knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Professional Engineer in Louisiana required.
Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies.
Ability to work independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, math principles, predictive models, and tools.
Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Coastal Engineering.
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
