We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Electrical Engineer
to join our team in Phoenix Arizona
As an
Electrical Engineer , you will provide critical engineering support and technical leadership for utility-scale infrastructure projects, including high voltage (69kV and above) transmission lines and substation equipment. Your role will involve high voltage utility replacements, modifications, emergency service, and routine maintenance with a focus on substation-related projects.
The position is for a base year of 12 months, with the potential for renewal based on performance and project needs.
The salary range of this role is $110-125k/annually.
Duties and Responsibilities:Support and lead engineering activities related to the maintenance, restoration, and construction of high voltage transmission lines and substation equipment.Develop, review, and update electrical designs and drawings for substation equipment repairs, replacements, and additions.Provide technical support for equipment testing, commissioning, and documentation.Assist maintenance staff with advanced high voltage transmission systems, including developing and implementing test and troubleshooting procedures.Ensure compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC)/Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) standards.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of high voltage equipment, safety requirements, and relevant codes and standards.Qualifications to be successful in the role :
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred, with an emphasis in power systems, or a minimum of six (6) years of experience in high voltage electric utility engineering.Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Arizona is preferred but not required.Proficient in reading and interpreting one-line diagrams, plans, sections, AC and DC schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and cable/conduit schedules.Extensive knowledge in the maintenance, repair, and testing of high voltage electric utility substation equipment.Ability to develop and adapt procedures for unique field situations.Experience in managing and supporting compliance with NERC, WECC, MRO, and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standardsStrong safety awareness and experience working with high voltage equipment.Must be available to work on federal holidays if required.Work Environment:
Principal work will be performed in an office environment at WAPA's Desert Southwest Regional Office, 615 South 43rd Ave, Phoenix, Arizona.Regular field work will be conducted at remote electrical substations.Telework options may be available with approval from the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).Travel Requirement:
