TITLE: Social Media Content Specialist (Grant Funded) REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Manager, Social Media Strategy BASIC FUNCTIONS: Implement digital communications strategies in support of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) social media accounts in order to maximize its social media footprint and increase engagement. Produce content for AAP social media accounts and execute social media campaigns and initiatives, using organic and paid strategies, that align with overall AAP communications priorities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Create and curate engaging daily content for AAP social media handles across multiple platforms in support of the AAP mission and priorities, both proactive and responsive. 2. Monitor social media conversations relevant to AAP and advise supervisor about any needed adjustments or opportunities for engagement. 3. Support grant-funded social media content development needs across AAP accounts. 4. Manage relationships with pediatrician influencers to support communication priorities and campaigns. 5. Develop content specific for member news, including platforming AAP News articles in strategic ways to boost their reach among members. Pursue new opportunities to collaborate with AAP leaders, members, and partners to promote content relevant to AAP members. Coordinate efforts with AAP News and membership staff. 6. Work with AAP sections such as trainees and early career pediatricians to support their social media goals and coordinate with main AAP social media accounts. 7. Maintain brand voice and tone across all AAP social media platforms. 8. Stay current on social media trends, algorithms, and best practices and recommend opportunities for enhancement to social media activities. 9. Perform all other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in communications, digital marketing, journalism, or a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. EXPERIENCE: At least one year of related experience contributing to social media platforms required, including the development, execution, and analysis of social media content and use of tools and platforms to track and assess social media efficacy. PR firm experience a plus. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Must be an exceptional writer with strong attention to detail and the ability to draft clear and concise social media content. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, mastery of core social media platforms, and the ability to learn and apply new and trending platforms; experience with virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) and document collaboration platforms (eg, SharePoint) preferred. Must be a creative, strategic thinker able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, respond quickly to time-sensitive matters, take initiative, work both independently and as part of a team, collaborative effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Excellent project management, organizational, diplomacy, interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills required. Some travel and evening/weekend work required. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $61,650.94 - $65,076.18. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies.
