Supports logistics operations by assisting with daily oversight and direction of internal team of drivers to ensure trucking operations targets and deadlines are met; operates commercial vehicles used to transport equipment and materials to internal and external customer sites.Main Responsibilities:
* Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams* Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies* Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of truck drivers, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet performance and safety standards; train new drivers in company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, and provide ongoing coaching and development to the team* Manage internal driver's and truck's schedules based on Logistics Supervisor's schedule requirements* Conduct daily HASP meetings and weekly safety meetings* Ensure that all team members adhere to safety regulations, including the proper loading and unloading of cargo, securing loads, and complying with DOT regulations* Coordinate with operations and customers haul routes and delivery patterns when delivering materials and equipment to internal and external projects* Collaborate with logistics team to plan optimal routes, schedules, and load assignments, considering factors like traffic, weather conditions, and delivery deadlines* Perform pre-and post-trip safety inspections on truck to ensure safe operation of vehicles; maintain clean vehicle* Ensure safe operation of vehicle; document and report required maintenance and/or repair to maintenance team (service department)* Maintain accurate documentation related to job assignments as required by the Company* Maintain clear and timely communication with the Logistics Supervisor and other team members to ensure smooth operations* Maintain driver logs according to state and federal regulations* Remain up to date on FMSCA and DOT regulations* Obtain all necessary permits for Simon owned trucks as needed* Manage Fleetwatcher dispatching and virtual ticketing in Logistics Supervisor's absence* Perform other projects and duties related to role as assignedEducation:
* High school diploma or equivalent* Class A CDL with endorsements and valid medical card requiredSkills:
* 3+ years of commercial driving experience; experience operating multiple types of vehicles/combinations highly preferred* Prior experience in a manufacturing, construction, or similar environment preferred* Ability to provide direction to others, and ability to provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement* Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers and other team members* Solid knowledge of DOT guidelines and safety regulations related to the role* Ability and willingness to operate multiple types of commercial vehicles, including but not limited to belly dumps, side dumps, end dumps, water trucks, etc.* Ability to maintain a clean driving record and compliance with applicable FMCSA CDL driver requirements* Ability to read and write, and understand EnglishPhysical Requirements:
* Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required* Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds* Required to work from a seated position driving a commercial vehicle for long periods* Regularly required to climb in and out of vehicles and/or equipment* Regularly required to use hands to handle and manipulate objects, including vehicle components, and secure hoses, chains, and/or couplings, write, use a keyboard, and/or mobile device* Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity* Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and walk across uneven terrain* Regularly exposed to typical construction site conditions, including all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles, fuel, oil, and other chemicals* Travel with overnight stays away from home may be requiredBenefits and Perks:
