Part time Physician Assistant for weekend shifts with Carilion New River Valley Cardiology. This established cardiology practice in Christiansburg, VA is seeking additional support due to growth.
Clinical Responsibilities include:Assess, diagnose, monitor and promote clinical status of each patient utilizing evidenced based practice and medical knowledge in both inpatient and outpatient settings.Develops appropriate plan of care.Writes patient care orders, and prescribes therapy.Identifies significant changes in patient status using physical exam, lab values, diagnostic tests, and patient/family input.Collaborates with nursing, medicine, and other members of the healthcare team to regularly ensure quality patient care.Works in stress lab.Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is a 146 bed facility. Services offered at hospital include emergent PCI; diagnostic and elective catheterization, intravascular stent implementation; peripheral vascular interventions; cardiac angiography, cardiac CT, echo with Doppler/color flow; TEE; 3D TEE, Holter monitoring; intra-aortic balloon pumping; nuclear cardio; pacemaker implantation; stress echo; peripheral angiography and angioplasty; and cardiac rehab.

The Physician Assistant has advanced knowledge and skills that qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patienta??s health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.What We Require:Education:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
Experience:
Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.
Other:
Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members.
