Grant Accountant

Full Time Role
Job Duties:
Maintains ledger accounts with a primary focus on pre- and post- award grant accounting for Federal and State of New Jersey awarded grants
Responsible for ensuring compliance with funders’ administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial reports, Single Audit processes and orderly closure of projects
Monitor and track the status of grant programs through its program life cycle
Work with grant managers and advise management on preparing grant budgets for proposals
Monitor expenses for allowable uses of grant funds
Creates monthly journal entries and prepares monthly and daily reconciliations
Completes and enters data accurately on a monthly basis
Strong understanding of the relationship between income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Compile/attach appropriate supporting documentation for journal entries
Entries entered timely in general ledger
Ensures accuracy of account balances
Use online research and review of original record sources to evaluate appropriateness of account balance
Maintains accurate detail in support of the balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization's and grant financial position
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
A minimum of 4 or more years of accounting experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Prior hospital or healthcare experience a plus
Prior grant accounting or auditing experience
Prior experience with PeopleSoft Financial and budget software a plus
