POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Manager, Direct Mail Program is a key member of the Annual Fund team who works closely with the Senior Director in planning, producing, and evaluating direct mail fundraising campaigns to raise budgeted revenue and acquire, retain, and reengage individual donors for the Foundation. The Senior Manager will also work directly with outside consultants and vendors in developing and managing the direct mail budget, acquisition list management, and campaign reporting.

Manages an integrated direct mail giving program that raises revenue through cost effective new donor acquisition, appeals, renewals, and stewardship efforts that will attract, cultivate, retain, and upgrade individual donors to the National Park Foundation.Works extensively with the Senior Director, NPF team managers, and outside consultants to craft fundraising appeals that appropriately and accurately communicate NPF activities and institutional messages to donors. Thinks strategically about ideal audiences, reviews list and segmentation plans, and makes recommendations.Maintains the Annual Fund mail production calendar integrated with the overall Annual Giving program. Collaborates with fellow Annual Fund, Midlevel, and Planned Giving team members as well as members of the broader organization to develop and ensure direct mail and associated messaging and strategies that achieve overarching organizational goals.Provides day-to-day supervision of Annual Fund direct mail campaigns, recommending and ensuring messaging and design concepts that will resonate with donors, ensures the factual accuracy of all copy and design, obtains necessary approvals, and project manages efforts to meet production schedules and mail dates.Works with creative and production teams to obtain photographs, content, resource materials, copyright and credit information for direct mail programs in a timely fashion to meet strict production deadlines.Maintains campaign project files, strategy documents, copy, art, final PDFs, invoices, results reports, and data files in SharePoint in an orderly and timely fashion.Develops and manages the direct mail budget, working closely with and under the supervision of the Senior Director. Reviews and approves projected costs ensuring within budget, processes and tracks invoices, conducts revenue and expense forecasting and cashflow projections.Essential Functions/Duties/Tasks:

Incumbent must possess professional knowledge of non-profit fundraising with an emphasis on marketing activities such as direct mail and/or printed communications, issues relating to donor relations and stewardship, and data management.Knowledge of fundraising operations and databases. Skills in using and integrating various software, i.e., Windows-based software such as word processing, and spreadsheet software for detailed analysis, workflow charting, reporting and data manipulation.Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively. Strong writing and grammatical skills to develop and edit written communications.Knowledge of administrative principles and practices to organize and manage direct mail campaigns, production time frames, long-range planning, and expense management.Strong organizational skills, ability to coordinate a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously, ability to prioritize projects and tasks.Ability to handle and manage confidential organization and donor information in order to communicate appropriately while assuring donor confidence in the National Park Foundation.Preferred education and experience :

5+ years of direct marketing experience with an emphasis in direct mail.Proven ability to work well under pressure, prioritize and manage multiple projects, and meet associated deadlines.Self-motivated and proactive, with demonstrated ability to be flexible, work independently, collaborate with others, make sound decisions, and exercise good judgment and professionalism at all times.Strong communication and editing skills with attention to detail; proven capabilities to draft correspondence, reports, and other written communications.Tech savvy individual. Must be a competent user of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Experience using project management software and donor databases preferred. NPF currently uses Blackbaud NXT and Wrike project management.

Location: This position is located in the Washington, DC, offices of the National Park Foundation.
