OUR Department:Internal medicine doctors, often called internists, primarily provide care for adults, but not for children. They specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and see patients for every health condition, from a physical or a sinus infection to a broken bone, and anything in between. Internists help with preventive care and the treatment of complex adult diseases, and they are the go-to provider to help connect and coordinate the many subspecialties a patient might need.STATUS: Full TimeLOCATION: Wilson, Alexander, Northridge, Orchard Street, St Mary'sDEPARTMENT: Primary CareSCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, DaysATTRIBUTES
Valid NYS drivers' licenseCurrent Medical Assistant certification or registration preferredHigh school graduate or GED equivalent preferredMore than one year of related experience in a medical settingBasic computer literacyKnowledge of medical terminologyGood communication and customer service skillsAble to perform all Medical Office Assistant job functions and responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Documents all patient interactions in a concise manner that is compliant with documentation requirementsConducts in-bound and out-bound calls including, but not limited to: patient scheduling, screenings, reminder calls, panel managementAssists to schedule and coordinate patient transportation, follow-up physician appointmentsUtilizes various reports to track patient referrals and scheduling no-shows for patients in collaboration with practice staffProvides clerical and / or administrative support to clinical staff and managers for special studies, projects and reportsProvides excellent customer service by serving as a resource to all internal and external customersMaintains knowledge of all health plan benefits and payor requirementsCall patients as designated by PCP or clinical staffVerify patients have been seen and follow up on no show patientsAssist all patients with barriersEnsure appropriate clinical information is communicated to clinical staff when there is variance from plan of careCoordinates other medical office assistants in outreach and report validation needs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.PAY RANGE: $17.25 - $18.90The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future.
