Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
The Material Handler I is responsible for performing a variety of functions, including receiving and processing incoming materials, picking and filling orders, packing and shipping orders along with managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
Maintain a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocate for and promote a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE, and encouraging others to do the same.
Accurately pick material utilizing a handheld scanner and delivery notes.
Pack truck and parcel orders by inserting proper material and quantities into containers and sealing appropriately for shipment, including the use of Mobisys software to scan handling units (HU).
Examine and create shipment numbers, Bills of Lading (BOL), Packing Slips, Tracking Numbers, etc.
Accurately complete cycle counting.
Create UPC labels to re-box products in damaged boxes.
Put away material from receiving (SUT & material transfers).
Execute bin-to-bin transfers.
Load and unload inbound/outbound trucks.
Utilize proper equipment to move merchandise throughout the facility (following proper certifications).
Follow all processes according to work instructions.
Exhibit integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintain accountability for performance.
Ensure compliance and safety of all activities within the organization's standards and policies.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
Team-oriented and quality-focused.
Ability to read a tape measure in millimeters and perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Positive attitude demonstrated through work reviews and attendance records.
Willingness to rotate to other areas as business needs dictate.
Reliable transportation.
Physical ability to stand constantly, and perform repeated hand, arm, upper body movements (push, pull, reach, lift, bend, and stoop).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Working knowledge of SAP.
1 year of warehouse experience.
Forklift experience, currently certified is a plus.
Highly organized with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
Proven experience in developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.
Stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely and maintain a safe working environment.
Proficient computer skills, including typing, word processing, and printing.
Ability to navigate and utilize necessary software tools and programs such as SAP, with working knowledge of SAP and the basic functions in the WM module preferred.
Fluent in English (both oral and written).
