Physical Therapist Assistant - Full Time Days/Flex

The Physical Therapist Assistant carrying out a PT-provided POC addressing a patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs, as well as providing physical therapy treatments to patients in accordance with written prescription or referral from a physician, within the scope of practice allowed by national and state-level authorities.
Roles and Responsibilities:Administer physical therapy interventions per patient's POC; communicate with PT re: patient status changes and response to treatment; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as therapeutic exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, walkers, and orthotics to help patients accomplish their treatment goals.Administers physical therapy modalities such as mechanical traction, hot/cold packs, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation for pain control, neuromuscular re-education, and functional improvements;Completes high-quality defensible documentation in a timely manner (within 24h) in the electronic medical record.Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient programsRequired Skills and Experience:
Education - Associates in Science from an accredited 2 year PTA programExperience - Minimum 1 year experience in an outpatient settingLicensure - current NYS license; BLSMust complete yearly mandatory safety in-services and/or trainingsMust complete yearly Healthstream e-Learning CoursesMust adhere to patient safety "Red Rules" and infection prevention policiesP

Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferredGood written and oral communication skills preferred.Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.
